What is pilonidal disease?

Pilonidal disease is a common, persistent skin infection that develops in the crease between the buttocks when hair follicles become blocked. The result is a pilonidal cyst, which can cause a range of symptoms including pain in the tailbone area, swelling, and abscesses. Here, Dr. David P.
