Colleen Feeney, LICSW, is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the Division of Sports Medicine and the Female Athlete Program at Boston Children's Hospital. She completed her Master of Social Work at Springfield College in 2010 and has extensive clinical and management experience, including leadership roles in behavioral health, including serving as Director of Behavioral Health at Community Care Cooperative and Steward Health Care Network.
Colleen specializes in working with adolescents, young adults, and athletes, with clinical expertise in anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, injury related mental health concerns, sport performance, and life transitions related to sport. Her work integrates evidenced based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, while emphasizing the importance of the therapeutic relationship and individualized care.
As a former collegiate women's basketball player and assistant college coach, Colleen brings a deep understanding of the physical, psychological, and emotional demands of sport. She is especially passionate about supporting athletes through injury, performance challenges, identity development, and transitions within and beyond athletics.
I take a whole-person approach to care, recognizing the close connection between mental health, physical health, performance, and overall well-being. I work with athletes to build emotional resilience, develop concrete coping and mental skills strategies, and address both sport-related and life stressors that may impact performance and quality of life. My goal is to help individuals strengthen mental fitness, enhance self-awareness, and thrive both in sport and beyond.
